Biomedical Electronic Technicians: This career path is made up of people who are specifically educated to repair the complex inner workings of electronic medical devices.  They are educated in electronic engineering, mechanical engineering and human anatomy/medical terminology in order to understand how these medical devices work.  This is done following Federal guidelines.  This profession has been around since the Military established the need in 1936.

As well as formal education, each technician keeps up to date with all current Federal and State regulations which insures that each medical device is safe to use on any patient and in turn safe for the operators of these devices to use.  As such, they have the authority to remove or render unusable anything they find unsafe.
